Assessing King's College Hosptial signage
In 2018 we visited our local hospital, King’s College Hospital with members of the LLDA to assess it for disability friendly signage. Members worked together to come up with recommendations to the hospital on how the signage could better meet their needs. The recommendations were taken up quickly, and hospital staff attended the next LLDA meeting to share photographs of the changes.
Another outcome of the project was that it made the LLDA members who took part happy. The chair of the LLDA said: “We are always being described as service users. We are never described as people who can help shape services to be better for everyone.” We continue to fundraise for opportunities for local people with learning disabilities to do things together and be able to create an impact.
